One of the most common standard heating systems used in most public buildings and homes is central heating systems.  You can find central heating systems especially used in places with cooler climates.  There is a central location where the heating system which includes a heating unit such as a heat pump, furnace, boiler is positioned.

There are many types of fuel that can be used for the heating unit such as oil, coal, electricity, natural gas, and others.  Heat is dispersed throughout the whole building when the central unit heats air, steam, or water.  Units in the outlying spaces such as ductwork, piping, or radiators may be part of the system.

When the building is large, the furnace of boiler is placed in a central location which is usually a furnace room, boiler room, or mechanical room.  In private homes, they can have basement units or closets called the furnace room.  You can put a heat pump with inside or outside a building.  Sometimes if a building has a flat roof a heat pump is installed there.

If you have a furnace or boiler, then piping or ductwork is carried to all parts of the building.  The way by which heated air are carried to the rooms by a system that are forced air units is through ductwork.  For the air to circulate through the ducts into the rooms, the system uses a fan or a blower.  If there is a thermostat set within a room or are, the heat is controlled.  To prevent blowing or forcing dust or mold into the rooms there are filters or air cleaners attached to the system.

When hot water is used in the system to transfer heat, water is first heated and sent through the piping to the rooms where there are radiators.  The radiators heat by convection rather than radiant heat.  Radiators are placed on walls or they may be placed within the floor to heat the floor surface.  The ductwork can also be used to distribute cold air from air conditioning during hot weather.

A pump is necessary for heat circulated by means of fluid so that there will be equal distribution of heat throughout the structure.  Hot water heat systems also combine with hot water for the household.  In order to provide the household with hot water for bathing and dishes, there is usually a secondary heat exchanger within a storage container that allow this. The optimum efficiency of the heating system from Heating Contractor is ensured if the radiator or vents is placed in the proper location.  Near windows or in the coldest parts of the room are the best places to put radiators.  Condensation is minimized if the radiator is near the window.  The proper air flow is set up by heat near the window to make best use of the heating element.  Directing heat away from windows defeats the positive air currents that are required for best efficiency.
